Who needs a dog walker?
Anyone who finds, for whatever reason that they need their dog walked during the day. This may be due to work, illness, a day out or because you are away and the relative who is housesitting cannot manage the walks too.
Can I amend the booked walks?
Yes, walks can be added or taken away. All I ask is that you let me know at the beginning of the walking day. I will not charge for any walks no longer needed as long as I have sufficient notice.
Are my house keys secure?
Yes, absolutely. I do not identify the keys with your name or address. I usually keep all my dog walking customers keys on my person in case an emergancy arrises and you need me to do an unscheduled visit.
How do I arrange for you to walk my dog?
I will arrange a time to visit you in your home. So that you can see who will be looking after your dog and so that we can discuss, in detail, its needs and any other matters. I will record all your and your dogs information for my use and this will not be shared with anyone.
What is home boarding?
With home boarding, a dog stays in my home, as part of the family. It shares the home space with my dogs and spends it evening with us, content after plenty of walks. They do not spend their time in a seperate room (a kennel all but word), but quite litteraly have a home from home. This suits those dogs who love to play and love other dogs. Who have loads of energy to enjoy all the walks and like plenty of attention.
Are you insured?
Yes. I am insured for third party liability, for the care of your dogs on a walk, while home boarding or while in your home. This also covers your house keys.
What happens if there is an emergancy?
We will discuss this at ourt first meeting but suffice to say, that although I have undertaken a canine first aid course, my aim is to ensure your dog gets the appropriate treatment as soon as possible. I would aim, if possible, to take your dog to your normal vets. I would, of course, advise you of the emergancy as soon as I possibly could.
What areas to you cover for dog walking?
I pick up dogs for walking in East Grinstead, and most of Felbridge and Crawley Down. I also pick up dogs from Dormans Park.
Do you have references?
I can provide references in addition to the ones included on this site. I also receive recommendations from the vets in East Grinstead, Goughs Pet Store in East Grinstead, Pets Paradise dog groomers and from Lesley Smart dog trainer.
How much do you charge?
My charges vary depending on your requirements. We would discuss this at our initial meeting, for which there is no charge.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
As mentioned above I do not charge for walks cancelled as long as it is before I am on my way to you! For home boarding, I would ask you to pay a deposit of 30% at the time of booking. Should the booking have to be cancelled then this would be refunded in full unless the cancellation is made within 4 weeks of the first day of boarding. Should the boarding be cancelled with 1 week of the first day of boarding then the full cost of the stay would be charged.
Where do you walk the dogs?
I walk the dogs in public areas in East Grinstead and Felbridge. You are most welcome to join me for a walk to see for yourself the service I offer.
How many dog walkers do you employ?
I do not employ any dog walkers. Your dog will be walked by me.
Can you give my dog its medication?
Yes, although I would require full and precise instruction on what to administer and how.
What food would my dog eat when it stays with you?
You would provide the food for the dogs stay, including how much to feed it and how often.
Can you provide comfort visits or evening food visits?
Both of these are provided regularly to my customers.
Do you walk dogs off the lead?
Where possible, and with your written consent, I would walk your dog off the lead.
Can I see where my dog would stay?
This is vital, as I want you to be happy, and I want to see how your dog feels sharing its space with mine.
Do you ask for a trial stay?
At our initial meeting we would discuss this and if it was felt necessary, then a trial day or overnight board would be arranged.
Do you board dogs over Christmas and New Year?
Yes, I regularly have dogs stay over the festive season. Although I am booked up quite early so would suggest an early enquiry.
